This Thursday 16th May sees the opening of Star Walls, an exhibition created by good friend Elliott Ashton in honour of Stuart Freeborn, Leytonstone’s talented sculptor and model maker who famously created the character Yoda  for the Star Wars series of films.  The exhibition will take part over a 4 week period in a series of venues around Leytonstone, and will include an opening at the Stone Space Gallery as well as local Tattoo Studio – Artefacto (xxx tattoos)

The exhibition brings together a collection of artwork that has been inspired by the Star Wars franchise, and presents sculptures alongside collages, paintings drawings and video pieces, celebrating the 36th anniversary of the original film with a day long event at the appropriately named ‘Lunar Lounge’ on the 25th May.

I have chosen three images which for me were the most memorable from childhood, ‘My only hope’ depicts a projected Leia from the original movie, ‘Echo 3′  featuring Luke and Tauntaun and finally, ‘Vader’ no set of Star Wars work would be complete without this surely..

Accompanying the show at all venues will be a specially created set of A2 posters with embossed details and laminate varnish finish, Priced at a specially reduced £40 each or £100 for a set of three, for the duration of the exhibition only.

Really pleased to unveil lots of new work at 2 shows coming up in Europe during may, if you are nearby to any either would be great to meet you – I’ll be at Stroke fair on the 1st May with Coates and Scarry, and in Milan at 1380 on the 9th May for the evening opening.

Firstly at Stroke Urban Art fair

I will be showing 4 new works with curators Coates & Scarry at this year’s Stroke Urban Art fair – looking forward to visiting the fair on the 1st above are some of the images on show – will be strange being amongst so many artists that paint on the street but I’m hoping there is some common ground with the works I am exhibiting and it’s great to be at a new show – hopefully post back here with some photos next week

then after stroke – hot footing it over to Milan for a solo exhibition of works in conjunction with you-art and gallery 1380

I’ll be showing a whole range of works made over the last 3 years and including some new works inspired by floral pattern and particularly william morris.  The theme of the work is nature, and our relationship with floral pattern in our modern surroundings, whether it be through clothing or interiors.

London Art Fair – Inkd Gallery

London Art Fair 2013 takes place at the Business Design Centre in Islington, N1 from 16-20 January.

Despite a lack of heating common to most artist studios, it has been great finding a new early morning working regime in the studio.  Trading an early morning bike ride for some time drawing has been really fruitful as I have been preparing works for a variety of upcoming shows including the Hong Kong exhibition ‘Trailblazers’ with Coates and Scarry.  I am delighted to anounce 2 exhibitions that I will be involved in during January, firstly the London Art Fair at the Islington Business Centre.  This will be my 4th time at the LAF and I am delighted to be showing work with Ink’d gallery as they attend the fair for the first time!  Following this I will be exhibiting work at the Vyner street gallery later in the month in an exhibition called ‘Fig.’which explores portraiture.  I am lining up  a small series of portraits studied from life and will be spending the early part of the new year working towards this show.  If anyone is interesting in sitting for this series – please drop me an email.

Dutch Auction with Eyestorm

The piece ‘Mindscapes #1′ is being auctioned by eyestorm currently on their website… the piece is valued framed at £1650 but is being reduced each day, if you head over to the site now you might just grab a bargain – currently the price is below £1000, shocking!! Mindscapes #1 in Eyestorm’s Dutch Auction

Factory Limitd pop up shop

Get west for a 10 day pop up shop bonanza from WLAF featuring ltd edition prints and rarities from a host of artists and a chance to discover some blinding new talent – oh and I have a couple in there myself too.

Been getting work ready for the show ‘Urban Barrier’ co-ordinated by Ben Oakley and No Format gallery.  The show opens 7th Dec and to go along with the new series of work I have decided to launch a new print of the piece ‘Beautiful Decay’ the first print reproduced actual size to match the priginal,  It’s also a good opportunity to take stock of previously released prints, a number of which are now sold out, and I’ve decided to offer free shipping on all prints worldwide for the next 2 weeks

I have been desperately trying to get to a stage whereby the printed work I produce is current and up to date with the studio practice.  Beautiful Decay is the first print to launch at the same time as the exhibited original and I am pleased to be showing the 1st print with the Ben Oakley Gallery.

It’s been an amazing month, becoming the father of twins (already a month old!) , a wonderful show with ink-d gallery in Brighton and now a great opportunity to exhibit with the fantastic Coates and Scarry at this year’s Affordable Art Fair, Battersea.    I will be showing over 15 originals at this years fair and an eclectic range wich contains pattern, floral and of course portraiture works with a strong focus on nature.  It’a a real honour to exhibit alongside Coates and Scarry’s stable of artists, and I feel really privileged to have this opportunity to show my work to a large audience at this years fair.  Pieces on show range from £175 to £3800, and it is a fantastic opportunity to browse work from over 100 galleries who will be participating in this year’s show.  If you are interested in attending, you may still be able to get a ticket from Coates and Scarry if you ask nicely… their website is http://www.coatesandscarry.com/
