Growth is an original painting in ink and tea exploring natural forms through a free expressive approach.  The painting begins life as a series of fountain pen marks in blue and sepia before tea is thrown onto the page manipulating the drawn lines.  Carne then interprets these free marks into floral forms.  This piece very much reflects Carne's previous career as an embroidery designer where he worked as an apprentice gold wire embroidery designer, working with saville row tailors to create military and civil uniform embroidery.  The organic nature of these forms come from the chaotic approach of the initial marks.  There is a concentration on balance of positive and negative shapes and concern for the flow of the piece. 
 
Growth is painted in ink and tea on bockingford watercolour paper finished with hand torn edge.  The piece is 32 x 43cm and is sent unframed in a reinforced card package.
 
The painting will be accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity with blind embossing and gold foil finishing.
